Jon Mayhew

Blog Mortlock Website About Jon Events Writing

I've always written stories or made them up in my head.

As a teenager, I invested many long hours producing my own comics and short story magazines. They were terrible sword and sorcery/ superhero pastiches but I produced them faithfully up to issue 75!

Then I became a teacher. My writing became more focused on developing interesting schemes of work or short examples to use as models for pupils. Life became hectic but fun and music and children and running all squeezed my writing time so I did less.

A nasty (or lucky, depending on your outlook) break in my ankle brought me back to writing for my own pleasure (sanity?). Since then I have extended my writing. Cornerstones Literary Consultants have helped me to develop my work and SCBWI has introduced me to other authors.

In 2008 I met Sarah Davies of the Greenhouse Literary Agency.

I've always said:

"I would write if I never got published. I would write if nobody read my work. But I would love to see my work between two covers and my name on the spine!"

Imagine my joy when Bloomsbury took on my first novel, Mortlock
